Before taking the quiz you might want to check out our Paleo Diet knowledge base.

The Paleo Diet is based on the foods consumed by our ancestors and helps dieters to build muscle and lose and maintain their healthy weight. While humans are out of shape, stressed, and plagued by diseases, our ancestors were agile and muscular. Their menu included foods such as poultry, game meat, shellfish, fish, vegetables, and root vegetables. They also ate eggs, nuts and seeds, fruits, herbs, and mushrooms.

There are plenty of benefits to following the Paleo Diet, among which improved gut health, better absorption of essential nutrients, improved digestion, and reduced risk for allergies. Dieters are also at a lower risk for inflammations that cause cardiovascular problems. Many foods are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. Improved sleep patterns, balanced energy levels, and stable blood sugar levels are added benefits, along with clear skin and low risk for cognitive decline and morbid obesity.

Weight loss is an obvious benefit. This diet is low in simple carbohydrates and emphasizes a balanced menu that combines lean protein, healthy fats, dietary fiber, and important macronutrients. Fast foods, alcohol, sugary drinks, and processed foods are not allowed. Grain is a product of modern farming and agriculture and is also excluded from the menu. This approach focuses on healthy foods and restricts dairy products, legumes and grains. Dieters should avoid coffee, coke, and sweetened drinks that are empty of nutritional value. Foods that are high in salt, trans and saturated fats, and hydrogenated oils should be avoided as well.

The Paleo approach helps dieters to stay lean and works with their genes. Dieters are encouraged to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that are loaded with phytonutrients and vitamins and reduce the rick for developing degenerative and chronic conditions such as neurological disorders, diabetes, and different types of cancer.
